Peredur Glyn is originally from Bodffordd, Ynys Môn (Anglesey). Growing up in a Welsh-speaking home, he went to Queens' College, Cambridge, to complete a BA and Mphil in Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic Studies. It was on this course that he developed his interest and academic knowledge of medieval Welsh literature, history and mythology, which play a prominent role in his fiction. He later obtained a PhD in Linguistics from Bangor University, where he has lectured since 2009. He is currently a Reader in Linguistics and Bilingualism.
He writes fiction in Welsh, generally in the genre of cosmic horror. His books include Pumed Gainc y Mabinogi [‘The Fifth Branch of the Mabinogi’] (Y Lolfa, 2022), which was shortlisted for Wales Book of the Year 2023, Cysgod y Mabinogi [‘The Shadow of the Mabinogi’] (Y Lolfa, 2024) and Anfarwol, neu Diflaniad Theophilus Cibber [‘Immortal, or The Vanishing of Theophilus Cibber’] (Y Lolfa, 2025), which won the prestigious 2025 Daniel Owen Memorial Prize. He was also the first to publish H.P. Lovecraft’s work into Welsh, as Galwad Cthulhu a Straeon Arswyd Eraill [‘The Call of Cthulhu and Other Horror Stories’] (Melin Bapur, 2025).
He lives in Menai Bridge with his son.
